How to Create an Association Between NCSA Mosaic 2.0 and Maple or Mathematica
- Run NCSA Mosaic 2.0 within Microsoft Windows.
- From the "Options" menu on the menu bar, choose "Preferences..."
- Choose the "Viewers" tab in the preference dialog box.
- Go through the "Associate MIME Type of" combo box to see if Maple and Mathematica file types already exist. If not, continue with the following instructions.
- Click on the button "Add" which is located near the bottom of the dialog box.
- Another dialog box named "Add Viewer" should appear. In this dialog box, type in "application/maplevr3", "application/maplevr4" or "application/mathematica" (depending on which program you are setting up) in the "Associated Mime Type of" text box.
- Type in "Maple" or "Mathematica" in the "Description of MIME Type" text box.
(Note: This step is optional.)
- Type in ".ms" for Maple V R3, ".ms, .mws" for Maple V R4, or ".ma" for Mathematica in the "With this/these extensions" text box.
- Enter the complete path of the executable file of Maple or Mathematica in the "To This Application" text box located near the bottom of the dialog box.
(i.e. C:\MAPLEV4\BIN.WIN\Wmaple32.exe or C:\WNMATH22\Frontend.exe)
- If you are not sure of where the executable files reside, click on the "Browse" button to the right of the text box. A dialog box named "Browse" should appear and you can look for the executable files just like if you were looking for any other file in Windows environment. After you have found the executable file you want, highlight it and click the "Open" button at bottom right of the dialog box. Now, you should see the complete path and name of the executable file in the text box.
- Click on the "Add" button at the very bottom of the "Add Viewer" dialog box.
- Click on the "OK" button at the very bottom of the "Preference" dialog box.
