Description:

The SJ-400 is a stylus type surface roughness measuring instrument capable of evaluating surface textures including surface roughness and waviness. The stylus of the SJ-400 detector traces the minute irregularities of the sample surface. Surface roughness is determined from the vertical stylus displacement produced during the detector traversing over the surface irregularities. The measurement results can be displayed digitally or graphically on either the touch panel or on a computer display through a data acquisition system.

The key parameters obtained using the SJ-400 are RMS roughness and mean asperity slope. These surface characteristics are used for analytically determining contact resistance of mechanical joints.
